Abstract (EN)
The concept of sport, which has increased its value in people's lives over time, has managed to attract attention in national and international competitions. The minds that want to use this power of sports for financial, political, prestige or any other gain have moved away from the motto of fair struggle. In this study, match-fixing, which is not accepted as a normal behavior in both the Turkish Criminal Law and the Legal Systems of the European Union Countries, has been examined and their approaches to this issue have been compared. In the study, the criminal law systems of 16 countries of the European Union, the Republic of Turkey and 17 countries in total, which consider match-fixing as a crime, were taken into account. Considering the approaches of the countries included in the study to match-fixing, it has been determined that they basically use similar methods with the provisions of imprisonment up to 5 years in their existing match-fixing laws. It has been determined that the country that imposes the most deterrent penalty against match-fixing in its laws is France with a prison sentence of up to 5 years and a fine of 75 thousand Euros, while Denmark is the country that gives the most deterrent sentence with a prison sentence of up to 1 year. It is thought that in order to prevent match-fixing, countries should increase the penal sanctions against the crime by at least three times, and deprivation of rights within the scope of security measures, and in addition to this, deprivation penalties depending on the situation in performing the relevant branch will be more deterrent.
