Abstract (EN)

Aim: The topic of recruiting athletes has been the topic of the agenda after most international organizations held worldwide. The aim of the research is to evaluate the pros and cons of recruiting athletes, whose numbers have increased recently, in terms of Turkish sports, to determine the success and failure in international organizations, to investigate the causes of sportsman recruitment. Material and Method: Case study pattern, one of the qualitative research methods, was used as the research model. In the study; articles, theses, official documents, official institutions' sites, sports federations' journals, national press and the books related to this topic were examined to collect data. In the study, descriptive analysis and content analysis, one of the qualitative analysis techniques were applied. Results: When the recruiting athletes in our country were examined, it was found that we gathered athletes in most branches and we recruited athletes mostly in the field of athletics. Likewise it was found that materiality is at the forefront of recrıiting athletes preferring our country and recruited athletes contributed the advertisement and success of our country, they were seen a role model by young athletes due to the medals which they gathered in the international organizations Conclusion: It was determined that recruiting athletes occasionally benefited our country on issues such as success and advertisement, and had positive contributions in the short term; nevertheless it is concluded that there are negative effects in Turkish sports in the long term due to our young athletes preventing by the athletes who are recruited and this situation is not acceptable for the sports community.
