ABSTRACTIn this research that competition of the Turkish textile and clothingsector in EU market has been analyzed; the historical perspective of textileand clothing sector has been reviewed, competition of sector has beencomparatively evaluated and analyzed by the rival countries in EU market.It has been tried to give a numerical frame to competition of theTurkish textile and clothing sector. It is extremely important that determiningand improving the competition of Turkish textile and clothing sector in theperiod of EU integration process.This research framing perspective of the sector, in the newcompetition conditions that emerged as a result of the abolishment of thequotas, is differentiated from its similar researches in terms of containingcontemporary statistics and reviewing performances of the countries one byone.In the first section of research, the historical development of the sectorhas been evaluated in details. In the second section, components of costsand foreign trade performance have been reviewed. In the last section ofresearch, it has been tried to determine the competition of Turkey and theother EU countries by the help of a numerical analysis.It has been found out that Turkey?s competition is superior to othercountries, although it has a decreasing trend.
