Abstract (EN)

The revolutions actualized with the aim of capturing the level of Contemporary Civilization to the new Turkish Republic founded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk; the most evocative revolution among the others was the letter revolution. Accepting the new Turkish letters instead of Latin based Arabic letters, national culture awakening has come true and the harmony to the contemporary western civilization that was targeted by Atatürk has been provided. In process of revolution, setting out the needs of the country, the western civilizations have been targeted and the factors that falls behind era, blocks the paths of civilizations have been radically changed. The most important factor which affects the social development is language in educational and cultural field. The studies in field of language are resulted with the revolution of the letter, so; by making reforms in language, Turkish language was enriched, with turning to a national identity it has become a sicience language. The most important aim at changes in writing was to ive the public easy and simple alphabet that can be learned and used easly, extending the literacy and eliminate the illiteracy among the people that was also the first goal of Atatürk. The revolution that has been arranged in ashort time such as three months, passed into law on 1 st of November, 1928 and it has started and irreversible process in Turkish Education History and has reached its real goal. All these alteration and evolution process has been effective in public opinion, being the main topic of the news in national and external pres for a long time, it has showed its effects. The Letter Revolution, not only increased the rate of literacy but also wiiith the acceleration of the cultural changes, the modernization of the society and the consciousness of being a nationalty has been appeared. Besides; it has freshened the life of pres and has been effective to establish the desired public opinion.
