Immigrants settled in Tire as a result of the Turkish-Greek population exchange (1923-1930)

The migration, which started with the territorial losses of the Ottoman Empire, continued throughout the 19th century. The effects of the migrations were not limited to the Ottoman Empire, but also had a great impact on the newly established Republic of Turkey. This situation manifested itself with the contract and protocol regarding the exchange signed in Lausanne on January 30, 1923. As a result of this, the newly established Republic of Turkey, despite the harsh conditions, attempted to bring its citizens who remained in Greek territory to Turkey. In our study, the Lausanne Conference, the Turkish-Greek population exchange, Tire before the exchange and the settlement of Lausanne exchanges in Tire were discussed. In this way, a study that we think will shed light on the history of the region has emerged. By completing the study with archive documents, books and articles, we had put forward a study that we aim to be better understood.
