Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACT Education is a base for development. For a solid and sustainable development, it is necessary to give priority to human resources, to follow up recent developments in technology, to have a good communication among human beings and to get better organized. To have a good communication depends on the development of listening, understanding, speaking and writing skills of human beings. Human beings acquire skills and get ready for rest of their life with Turkish courses. Turkish Teaching Programme (1-5 classes) prepared in 2004 has a good structure that makes students think, learn while thinking, use prior knowledge and reach results. The aim of this research is to define viewpoint of teachers on Turkish Teaching Programme (1-5 classes) and effects of that on students (attainment, theme, learning and teaching process, measurement and evaluation etc). Three hundred and sixty teachers participated in this research from 46 state and private primary schools placed in the district of Etimesgut, Yenimahalle and Çankaya in Ankara. According to the results of the survey, most of the primary school teachers are in favour of the new Turkish Teaching Programme (1-5 classes). However, the measurement and evaluation section of the programme has less then 50 % support. In addition, It has been observed that the teachers who work for the state schools give less support to Turkish Teaching Programme then that of the private schools. By using these results of the survey, some suggestions have been put forward for the enhancement of the programme.
