Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to identify the effects of improving critical thinking abilities of students of Turkish curriculum. The population of research constitutes 4th grade of Bartın's headquarter. The sample of research is composed of the 4th grade students in Ahmetler İlkokulu, Bartın. In this study the opinion of 70 primary school students and 11 teachers is received. For the data of research the improvement scale on the critical thinking abilities of the 4th grade is applied. A survey on the opinion of the 4th grade students' critical reading outcomes is applied. Moreover, to the teachers a survey that is formed by research on assessing the 4th grade Turkish curriculum critical reading outcomes is applied. The date that is gained at the end of the application is resolved by SPSS 20 whole program. It is appeared that the data that is obtained at the end of survey, the 4th grade coursebook and work book exercises which are formed by toward 2005 Turkish curriculum are insufficent in terms of gaining critical reading skill. In the survey to identify the opinions of the 4th grade students toward the outcomes of critical reading despite finding themselves sufficient in critical reading skills, students could not obtained critical reading outcomes by taking in to account the 4 th grade Turkish curriculum critical reading assessment survey. Thus, it is suggested that Turkish course books and workbooks that are used in classes should include more critical reading exercises.
