The necessity and recommendations on the usage of association in Turkish language education

Dr. Gıyasettin AYTAŞJanuary,2011In this research, the finitude and field of influence of the concept of association is determined based on the usage and specialties of the concept of association in educational, psychological and philosophical fields. During this determination, conception of reputed philosophers and pshyhologists are mentioned, and from this point of view it is set forth that the association which is the principle of the working of the brain emerges depending on the resemblance, contrast, frequence, time, location and cause and effect relationships. Approaching these relationships within theories of learning, the relationship between the association and learning is designated. In this designation, within the relationship of association and learning behavioural association theories, cognitive behavioural approach, cognitive learning approach and neurophysics approach are analysed and realization of learning, whether in an intellectual or behavioural course, is based on association in each approach. Association plays an effective role in both the first step to learning and emergence of the learned. The necessity of usage of such an important element in fields of education is presented taking into consideration of its specialty which is being a foundation to learning .It is understood that during the education perion association is not used effectively and consciously system. Association is not described properly in Turkish language teaching, thusin charge of the evoluation of this matter during the education period so much deficiency is detirmeined. Taking into consideration that association which effects the creation, alteration and acquisition of words, expands the frame of semantics of a language; the necessity to emphasize the usage of association in Turkish language education comes out.Examining the association within linguistics and semantics, it is indicated that the emergence of a language depends on the associations made of living thigs and objects in the nature, and associations are at the forefront of the course of development of a language. Taking into consideration of the relationships of association with other disciplines, its importance within pragmatics, psychology, formation of concepts and words, creative drama and theatre, psychiatry, media and advertising is confirmed.As the model to the research, analysis of documents is chosen, both native and foreign sources about this subject matter are included in this research associating these with education, philosophy and psychology. Recommendations are given on how association can be used more effectively in Turkish language education, setting forth the findings revealing that association, which forms a base on determination of charachter, language education, perception of world and the course of learning, should be used as an approach directing the education and teaching programmes.Keywords: Turkish teaching, association, principles of association, theories of teaching, language training, approach.
