Abstract (EN)
Turkish textbooks aim to convey values to students through texts as a basic tool in education, but these values are not sufficiently processed in classroom practices after reading activities. It is seen that the values in the texts are not used effectively in students' thought processes and are not reinforced with tangible activities. This situation causes values education to fail to create the expected effect and causes incompatibility between the vision of the Turkish Course Curriculum and the implementation of the courses. For values education to be successful and to achieve the objectives of the Turkish Language Teaching Program in accordance with the Basic Law of National Education, it is important to ensure the active participation of students in the course process with activities based on these values, beyond the values in the texts. The purpose of this research is to reveal how activities designed through narrative (event-based, narrative) texts, focusing on values in Turkish lessons, affect children's value perceptions. In this context, the effectiveness of activities designed through narrative (event-based, narrative) texts applied in Turkish lessons in the context of sensitivity, patience and honesty values on students was investigated. In this study, 3 selected texts related to the Values Theme and 28 activities related to these texts focused on the values of sensitivity, honesty and patience were included in the 7th grade Turkish course in secondary school, and these activities were completed in 18 lesson hours. In the research, which included a total of 19 participants, 8 boys and 11 girls, who were 7th grade students studying in a medium-level secondary school in Pamukova district of Sakarya province, firstly, pre-application questions were asked to the students, then activities were applied, and the process was completed with the final application questions. In the research, a qualitative experiment, one of the qualitative research designs, was used to observe the changes in students' feelings and thoughts. In the data analysis of the study, 114 documents were examined, and they were subjected to content analysis. As a result of the research, it was seen that the students noticed and corrected their misconceptions regarding the values of sensitivity, patience, and honesty. In addition, it has been understood that the ranges regarding the importance and necessity of these values have deepened and diversified. It was observed that the students realized the sub-dimensions of these values.
