Abstract (EN)
Idioms and proverbs are special usages that emerge from a society's perspective and experiences. These elements, which contain the characteristics of the society they came from, differ from culture to culture. Idioms, which also contain a wide variety of folklore materials, have been the subject of study in various fields. It is seen that these elements are used from daily life to literary works thanks to the short and concise expression possibilities of idioms, which have the ability to express a lot with few words. In this study, common idioms in Turkish, Hindi and Urdu were examined. For this purpose, the idioms on the general web page of the Turkish Language Institution were scanned. Idioms with equivalents in Hindi and Urdu were brought together and compared. 95 idioms and idioms that are commonly used in Turkish, Hindi and Urdu have been identified. In the background of this partnership, it has been concluded that various experiences can be met with the same expressions in different cultures, with both the historical relationship of Turkish and Indian cultures and a more universal perspective.
