Turkish teachers' attitudes and opinions towards artificial intelligence

This study aims to examine Turkish teachers' attitudes and views towards artificial intelligence. The research was planned using a mixed-methods approach, specifically the 'exploratory sequential design,' which combines quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Quantitative data were collected using the 'Artificial Intelligence Attitude Scale,' while qualitative data were collected using the 'Opinion Form' developed by the researcher during the 2024-2025 academic year in an online environment via 'Google Forms.' Quantitative data were analysed using the SPSS 26.00 programme, while qualitative data were analysed using content analysis. The study group consisted of 210 Turkish language teachers working in different provinces of Turkey. The results of the research revealed that Turkish language teachers' attitudes towards artificial intelligence were 'high.' However, it was found that Turkish language teachers' attitudes towards artificial intelligence did not show significant differences based on gender and professional experience; they showed significant differences based on their use of artificial intelligence applications, their general knowledge of artificial intelligence, and their daily internet usage time. According to the research findings, it has been concluded that most Turkish language teachers follow developments related to artificial intelligence. Furthermore, it has been found that participants view the use of artificial intelligence in the development of the four language skills positively and that their predictions regarding the future of artificial intelligence in Turkish language education are favourable.
