Turks, who have existed on the stage of history for a long time, have been in interaction with other societies due to many different factors such as religious, political, economic, military etc. and this situation has paved for other communities who wanted to communicate with Turks to learn Turkish. From the first Turkish states to the Ottoman period and from there to the present day, Teaching Turkish to foreigners or in other words teaching Turkish as a foreign language has continued to maintain its vitality even though the purpose, environment and method etc. have changed. Various developments experienced since the 90s have increased the importance of Turkey due to its location; the interest of nations from various geographies especially the Middle East, North Africa and the Balkans in Turkey and Turkish has intensified. In this context, TeachingTurkish as a foreign language has gained even more importance. To meet the need in the field of Teaching Turkish as a foreign language in a more planned and professional manner, Turkish teaching centres have been opened within the Turkish Maarif Foundation, Yunus Emre Institute and different universities. In 2019, the Maarif Foundation prepared a 'Teaching Turkish as a foreign language program' based on the Common European Framework Reference (CEFR) for languages to be used in this field. In these programs , which are prepared with a student-centered education approach, the concept of culture transfer has also emphasized. In order for a language to be used competently, it is necessary to master the basic language skills as well as to know the culture of the society to which the target language belongs. Movies are among the important materials that allow culture transfer while teaching languages. The aim of this research is to show that movies are an important source for cultural transfer. The movie 'Babam ve Oğlum' which was thought to reflect the Turkish language and culture well by the researcher, was selected to be shown to the students. Then, after the activity prepared to determine whether the students noticed the cultural elements thanks to the movie was examined by the field experts, an application was carried out in Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center located in Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University and Ondokuz Mayıs University.
