An analysis of Turkish textbooks as a foreign language in terms of NLP techniques

There has been a growing interest in the number of foreigners who are eager to learn Turkish. Hence, teaching Turkish as a second language has been a crucial topic, which brings out the issue of learning a language effectively and accurately. That is why NLP which is connected to many areas from public relations to education and communication, has emerged as an outlet to teach languages as well. It is believed that textbooks are important to deliver the basic fundamental source for language learners and to lead them to success. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to analyse the Hitit series used to teach Turkish as a foreign language in terms of NLP techniques and principles. Firts, two frames were established to analyze the series for elementary, intermediate and upper intermediate levels: 'NLP and communication' and 'NLP and language'. The thesis yields the results that personalization is the most frequently used technique and that those that are never employed are anchoring and metamodelling. This study also showcases that secondly, reframing and modelling are used for the elementary , intermediate and upper-immediate levels of the series. When it comes to language, the ranking is visual, auditory, tactile, gustatory and olfactory reperesentations.
