Abstract (EN)
The interest in Turkish and Turkish culture in recent years has triggered many studies in the academic field and application field on teaching Turkish as a foreign language. Studies have frequently stated that one of the most fundamental issues regarding teaching Turkish as a foreign language is that there are insufficient materials to support learning. Individuals learning Turkish as a foreign language should use short stories, novels, etc. that appeal to native language users, especially to improve their reading-comprehension skills. It has been stated in the literature that they tend to focus on works of art and that this situation makes learning Turkish difficult. Based on this problem stated in the literature, the universe of the study consists of epics from Turkish literature and the sample is the Satuk Buğra Khan Epic. The original version of the Satuk Buğra Khan Epic was adapted by taking into account the reading skill gains and language structures in the secondary education (high school) B1 level syllabus table in the Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language Program prepared by the Turkish Maarif Foundation. The final version of the adapted text was given within the framework of the opinions received from three instructors working in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language. An adapted text evaluation form was used to obtain expert opinions. The idea that it would enable students to discover the historical depth of Turkish was influential in the selection of the epic text genre. The research was conducted according to the basic qualitative research design.
