Criteria for creating a mono-language dictionary for those learning Turkish as a foreign language

For use by adults learning Turkish as a foreign language. It is seen that the existing monolingual dictionaries are dictionaries prepared for native speakers of Turkish, and that there are no such dictionaries prepared taking into account the needs of the students. The subject of this study is the criteria for creating a monolingual (Turkish-Turkish) dictionary that can be used by adults who have completed the basic Turkish level in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language. This study aims to discuss a certain type among various dictionary types and to determine the criteria for creating this type according to a certain level of language learning. The type of dictionary that is targeted to be addressed is the monolingual dictionary, which does not contain definitions, explanations or exercises from any language other than the target language. As for the language level, the end of the basic level has been determined as the target in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language. In line with these purposes, the criteria for creating the dictionary in question are determined and these criteria are supported with various examples.
