Abstract (EN)
The dissertation mainly concentrates on the evolution of Turkish Islamist intellectuals' discourses in terms of the way that they relate to the regime of truth. As distinct from the dominant inclination in the literature, the study relies on the epistemological perspective drawn upon the Foucauldian concepts of power/knowledge, discourse analysis and the regime of truth. This perspective is significant to see the changing power/knowledge strategies through discourse analysis of the writings of intellectuals. In addition to the discourse analysis, the dissertation applies the method of conceptual history to include historical changes in using the key concepts of the Islamist discourse in Turkey. To show the discursive differences between two periods, 1. 1990-2000 2. 2000-2018, mainly four concepts have been selected in the wake of literature review on the Islamist political discourse in Turkey as follows: democracy, nation-state, nation/ummah and secularism. These concepts are used as the tools of discourse analysis on the Turkish Islamist intellectuals. Considering their popularity around Islamist movement, productive writing lives and variety of publishments, these five Islamist intellectuals' discourses are selected as the case of the dissertation: Ali Bulaç, Ahmet Taşgetiren, Hayrettin Karaman, Sibel Eraslan and Akif Emre.
