The contribution of community centers' theatre branch to the education of citizens in Turkey during 1932 - 1950

After the victory of the National Independence War, establishment period of Republic of Turkey had begun. Despite the fact that a new government and state has been adopted, it is obvious that large part of people is stil living in accordance with Ottoman Empire period. When you look at the attendance of commotio against both Turkish Grand National Assembly and Republic regime, it is understood that people is not ready fort he ?new period? yet.As the political, social, juridical and economical reforms were sudden and made by the government, it creates problems for people to adopt it. As it thought that all reforms in the world will not maintain their continuity unless they are interiorized by people, it can be said that new Republic of Turkey also faced with this problem. In another words, as well as establishing a government and taking this government to modern level, it isalso necessary that people should struggle accordingly.The main of objective of the reforms that are madeduring the establishment of new Republic of Turkey was to break people?s connection with the habits of Ottoman period. Doing this and ensuring rising generation to be correspondent with the basis of Rebuplic was very important fort he contunity of the Republic government. As the number of people who were literate was low in the Turkey of 1930s, featuring visual elements in the introduction of reforms were brought up. Therefore, art and theatre were begun to used for conveying reforms to people. ?Representation of reforms? which will be investigated in this research were performed in community centers within the aim of growing individuals appropriate fort he ?new period?.
