Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis is to determine the impact of informal employment on the deficits of social security.Therefore, the concept, definition, causes, effects and impact of the informal economy were investigated in the first part of thesis study.In the second part of thesis, some informations about social security system such as conceptual analysis and definition, aim, scope, structure and how to be financed/funded were investigated. Besides, deficits of social security and causes of these deficits were researched in all aspects.In the third part of thesis, after deficits of income-expense balance of Social Security Institution between 2001 and 2010 were investigated considering relation between informal employment and social security, the effects of informal employment on deficits of social security were studied for the same years. According to Turkish Statistical Institute data, figures of informal employment were examined for the years from 2001 to 2010, and through these figures, the deficits of Social Security Institution were re-evaluated by counting people in social insurance over the minimum wage level. Finally, precautions to consider to struggle with informal employment were expressed.
