Abstract (EN)

It is seen that the concept of family is very important, family studies are increasing and services about family are diversified due to the social policies implemented in recent years. In this study, the concepts of family, historical development of the family, the relation of family with social policy and social works, family counselling are discussed. The development of family consulting in Turkey and current situation, the opinions of family counselors about this profession are examined. Descriptive model was used for investigating family counselors trainings, professional practices and opinions about the field in this study. The questionnaire technique, which is one of the data collection tools, was used to get the aimed information. The questionnaire prepared by researcher consists of 3 sections and 39 questions. 54 people has participated in the research and the responses have been evaluated by analyzing. According to findings obtained from the research, counselors in Turkey apply certification program or academic training to become family counselor; they work more in private counseling centers, they choose family counseling to help the community, families and children, they provide financial and moral satisfaction from the profession and significient relationships were oberserved between proficient vision levels and in the field and their trainings, working times, on the type of institution they work.
