Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to compare the ways of informing sport news in between Germany?s and Turkey?s newspapers. This research was conducted in the newspapers published in between 1 and 15 November, 2009. The compared newspapers were Radikal, Star, Sabah, Hürriyet and Milliyet of Turkey; and Frankurter Allgemeine, Bild, Algemeine Zeitung, Welt Kompakt and Süddeust Zeitung of Germany. The comparison was made in terms of general news, advertisements and announcements, sport news, topics of columns related sports and evaluation of their percentage distribution.According to results of this research, it was seen that the ratio of sport news in Turkey?s newspapers was 14.4% and the ratio in Germany?s newspapers was 9.8%. However, when the distribution of news related sport branches were compared, it was seen that the percentages of sport news about soccer in Turkey?s and Germany?s newspapers were 82.6% and 63.6%, respectively. The remaining 17.2% and 36.4% of sport news, respectively in Turkey and Germany, were about other sport branches.Nowadays, it is seen that the printed sport media, an important part of media, mostly gives places to soccer news instead of news of other sport branches with higher achievements. Moreover, thanks to soccer, the printed sport media reaches more readers. In the lights of mentioned above, in the German and Turkish newspapers, it is seen that there are no much difference between the ratios of general news, advertisements, announcements and sport news. In the German Sport Media, although content of sport news highly include soccer, it is seen that the important news about other branches of sport are extensively published to inform German people. However, in our country, it is obviously seen that studies and expectations about sport are ignored and news about branches excepting football do not take place enough in sport media. Even, the sport media is seen as football media. The solutions of these problems are the Sport media must notice its real mission and change its broadcasting policy. In addition, the media, including newspapers, magazines and sport channels, must have a society router and informative broadcast policy.
