Evaluation of the series "Abjad" in terms of teaching Arabic in Turkey

In this research, we tried to analyze the series named Abjad Silsiletun li-Ta'lîmi'l-Luğati'l-'Arabiyyeti li'n-Nâtıkîne bi-ğayrihâ with a critical language in terms of from the view of form and content in terms of Arabic education given in Turkey. The Arabic textbook reviews we have identified so far are about textbooks which prepared abroad. The fact that our study deals with the examination of an Arabic teaching series prepared in Turkey that adds originality to it. Before the review of the series, in the first part, we talked about the history of foreign language teaching in Turkey, especially Arabic teaching, in order to lay the groundwork for the subject. In addition, foreign language teaching methods were mentioned and we expressed our opinions about when and for what purpose these methods can be used in Arabic teaching. In the second part, we talked about the factors that play a role in foreign language teaching. Under this heading, we talked about the role of the student, the teacher and the textbook, as well as the textbook syllabuses. The third part is devoted to the evaluation of the series called Abjad, which is the main subject of our study. In this section, we first tried to convey the content of each level book of the series, which consists of four levels. Then we evaluated the lessons in the series. We evaluated the lessons by dividing them into two headings as communication-oriented lessons and rule-oriented lessons. In our study, besides the books and articles on foreign language teaching, the theses on the examination of foreign language teaching series were also used. As a result of our research, we stated that the series called Abjad was successful, although it had some shortcomings in terms of outer cover and interior design. In terms of content, we stated that it was written entirely using the target language and in this respect, it was prepared in accordance with communicative language teaching methods. The series did not neglect the communicative aspect of language even in grammar lessons, and included questions and sentences that support communication skills in the exercises.
