The evaluation of textbook serial named Arabic for imam-tahip high schools from the paint of viev of Arabic teacging in Turkey

This study, which consists of an introduction, a conclusion, four chapters and an appendixj aims at finding out contributions of "Arabic for Imam Hatip High Schools" textbook series to Arabic language education in Turkey. The study examines the structure and characteristics of supportive-suplementary materials of the above-named textbook series and makes suggestion when it is required. In the Introduction, the importance of the study, its aim and its scope are emphasised. Chapter One tries to investigate the education of the Arabic in Turkey, the defination of the language and the historical development of the education of Arabic in Turkey and its condition. In Chapter Two, the methods of foreign language education are divided into three groups, as cognitive, affective and the principal methods of foreign language education are studied from the points of approach, design and application. Chapter Three observes the role of the textbook in foreign language education. Some elements which are considered important in the process of foreign language education, the design of syllabus, and its types, the characteristics that are required to be found in a textbok and materials are examined in the same chapter. Chapter Four examines and investigates the textbook series "Arabic for Imam Hatip High Schools". After a short information about this book, the questionnaries which were made among students and teachers are examined and some suggestions are made. In Conclusion, this study examined again and results are ordered. The Appendix One presents the questionnaires which were made among students and teachers.
