Özet (EN)

In Turkey, the foundations of agricultural education were laid in 1848 with the opening of the first agricultural school. After that, agricultural schools were opened in Edirne, Thessaloniki and Bursa, and higher agricultural education began in 1891 with the opening of the Halkalı High Agricultural School. During the Republican Period, these previous studies about this area were reconsidered in the Izmir Economic Congress held in 1923.At the congress, the taken decisions under the title of "Agricultural Education Issue" aimed to make radical changes in the field of agricultural education. Since then, many agricultural schools were opened and agricultural experts were trained to develop the country's economy with rational and scientific methods. In addition to agricultural schools, many research centers were established to carryout agricultural activities by scientific methods. In this study, which was prepared by considering the Atatürk period, the opening processes of agricultural schools, opened schools, opinions and suggestions of foreign education experts about agricultureeducation, research centers in which agricultural practices are carried out by scientific methods are examined.
