Effects of Turkish Grand National Assembly European Union Harmonization Committee on negotiation process between Turkey and European Union

There is a number of turning points in Turkey- European Union (EU) relations in the history. The establishment of EU Harmonization Committee in the 22nd Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA) is one of those key points. In this study, the establishment, purpose, scope and duties of this institution are analyzed. In order to show the importance of EU Harmonization Committee in the negotiations between Turkey and EU, the study is concentrated on the committee reports and its activities. However, the thesis is limited with the actions of this committee in the 22nd 23rd 24th and 26th parliamentary terms. Here it should be noted that the 25th term is not included since it was not established. For this thesis qualitive methods are utilized and mainly secondary sources are used. Also the primary sources of the thesis cover the documents published by Turkish Grand National Assembly and Republic of Turkey Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directorate European Union Affairs.
