Comparison between Turkey and European Union in terms of occupational healt and safety

Social policy is a kind of discipline that takes social policies in hand. Business relations and job status based on these relations are mentioned under the title of social policy.All preventive actions taken at work such as protecting from all hazards resulted from continuation of business and all conditions that causes health problems in working area and also actions taken for constituting more safe and comfortable working environment have been defined as health and safety at work. This definition has become more important at the present day because of the speed of technical developments, mechanization, industrialization and the impacts of increasing chemicals on human beings.Issues regarding heath and safety at work which keep up to date continually in historical development is a kind of problem that arised similarly both in our county and in European Union member countries.In European Union member countries, health and safety services have been specialized and required to be communicated to all employees. However, Turkey has been outdated by European Union member countries regarding this issue. On the other hand, in membership process to European Union, the solution of problems regarding health and safety at work has got urgency.Upon with this study, health and safety at work has been defined under the title of social policy, its? historical progress has been examined and the differences between Turkey and European Union member countries have been stated.As a result of this study, it has been seen that a lot of problems regarding health and safety at work are stil waiting to be solved both in Turkey and European Union member counties.
