Place and importance of plastic arts of pintmaking in Turkey

In order to achieve the desired levels of integration of the plastic arts in the contemporary world art platform in our country, it is inevitable to pay attention to all areas of art. From this point of view, it is necessary to give importance to the printing area and to support it. The increase in quality in the areas of original printmaking applied in the Faculties of Fine Arts and Education will only increase with the importance given to the printing education and with the necessary care. In this research, observations and interviews were conducted in order to determine the place and importance of the printmaking area, which has many different techniques within its structure and provides unlimited possibilities for the artist to express himself. Qualitative research method was used in the research. According to this method, the place of printmaking art in the general art scene in our country has been tried to be determined by taking into consideration the institutions providing education for this field, in this way, the problems encountered have been described and the suggestions will be guided. Interview form was used as data collection tool. Within the scope of the research, our country has guided the development and progress of the art of painting and interviews were made with the artists who were thought to support the thesis. The artists within the scope of this aim are: Ahmet Aydın KAPTAN, Atilla ATAR, Erkin KESKİN, Güler AKALAN, Hayati MİSMAN, Raif KALYONCU, Saime HAKAN DÖNMEZER, Tolga AKALIN. The artists were asked open-ended questions to determine whether the art of painting has shown the necessary care within the general art scene. When the answers of the interviewed artists are evaluated, it can be seen that the printing area in our country has progressed more slowly than the other elements of plastic arts and it is still recognized. It has been concluded that the art of printmaking is less preferred because of the technical difficulties in itself, but it does not have a large exhibition opportunity in galleries and competitions and it makes it difficult for the artist and society to recognize this area.
