Abstract (EN)

In the presented thesis study, main concepts of the Turkish Building Seismic Code (TBDY- 2018) have been explained. In the scope of the TBDY-2018, "Special Requirements for Design of Isolated Building Structural Systems Under Seismic Effect", a total of three reinforced concrete structural models have been designed and their structural analyses have been carried out. In the thesis study, the concept of seismic isolation has been clarified and the use of seismic isolator in the past and the application of the structures with seismic isolator in Turkey have been presented. In addition, technical information for the different types of seismic isolator has been given in the study. In the thesis work, 6 storey reinforced concrete hospital structure has been designed and the structure has been modelled as without isolator, friction pendulum system and lead rubber bearings using a computer program (SAP2000). Design of the isolator members has been carried out according to the Turkish Building Seismic Code (TBDY-2018), the base shear loads and the effective relative storey displacement differences have been presented by using linear and time history nonlinear analyses. In the presented study, the effective relative storey displacements of the structures having isolator have been obtained much lower than the structures without isolator.
