Abstract (EN)
Although several types of the mines in our country are produced, exported and imported, the most we have is boron mine with a reserve potential of 73%. Boron mine can be used approximately 250-300 different industrial areas according to various sources. It can be used as rocket fuel or to increase productivity in agriculture, or to provide armor lightness and 70 times more rigidity. The fact that boron ore could be used in many industrial branches, increasing number of areas it could be used depending on the global developments in technology and a reserve source of approximately 73% in our soils makes it important not only for our country but also the world. In that context, this study aims to analyze the competitiveness of Turkish boron industry based on Porter 's "Diamond Model". The competitiveness of Turkish boron industry based on Porter 's Diamond Model has been analyzed through the qualitative research method, including the secondary data analysis and in-depth interview. Within the scope of the secondary data, researcher benefited from current reports such as sectoral reports, annual reports, statistical data, academic documents, web pages etc. Moreover, in-depth interview has been conducted to receive expert opinion. Findings of this research revealed that, Turkish boron industry needs to invest in developing the qualified human resources in boron industry and improving R&D for high value added boron products. Moreover, in order to stimulate the domestic demand which is of great importance in increasing the competitiveness, attracting the attention of the industrialists to the boron industry on various platforms and informing the local industry through the production and marketing of high value added boron products may contribute.
