Teachers deputies in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (1939-1960)

This study aims to examine the activities of teacher deputies (teachers, mudarrises, instructors, lecturers, academicians etc.) who served in the 6 th , 7 th 8 th , 9 th , 10 th and 11 th terms of the Turkish Grand National Assembly under the roof of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and their impact and contributions to the important developments in the country‟s education, politics, economy and foreign affairs as a result of these activities. This research was conducted according to the survey model. The survey model is a research model which aims to determine a past or current situation as it is. The relationship between education and politics, the purpose, method, limitations and importance of the research are presented in the introduction. The research method is explained in the first section. In the second section, the biographical information of the deputies included in the research including their names, surnames, dates of birth and death, places of birth and electoral districts is presented, and then the teacher deputies who served in the established committees and the established governments are listed. In the third and fourth sections, the influence and contributions of teacher deputies who served in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey between 1939 and 1960 on laws related to political, educational, economic and foreign affairs were examined. The final part of the study presents a summary of the conclusions. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the number of teacher deputies was high during the examined periods, that they held positions in approximately half of the ministries in the established governments, and that there were teacher deputies in the prime ministry offices particularly during the period between 1939-1950, and that teacher deputies contributed to political, educational, and economic legislation during the examined period.
