Abstract (EN)

From one perspective the role is group of expected behavior from individuals due to their social status. From another, with the resouces (moral, material, social) that roles provide individuals, roles give meaning to individuals' life. With its opportunities, roles also create resources for individuals to determine their future goals. Individuals, within their whole life, play a part in different roles such as; a mother, son, daughter, wife, soldier, worker etc. All those roles also create the frame of obligations, responsibilities, opportuinities, necessities. Within the 20 yy, and espcially after the Second World War, significant increases in labor market participation of women had been observed; and for women, as in the past, a role in the a paid job, has been added to their cluster of other roles. However, while there was no decrease the level of responsibilities of their traditinoal roles, there was increase of responsibilities for their modern roles. This trend effects women, pcyhologically and phsically. Related literature has considerable past to point out this trends' effects on women's phsical and psychological well being. Those studies can be grouped into two clusters as; negative and positive assumptions. Negative assumptions point out that, because of the fact that individuals has limited time and energy, women who has multiple roles, has experience role conflict and role overload. So according to negative assumptions multiple roles has negative effects on women's psychological and phsical well-being. On the orher hand positive assumptions point out that each role which women play a part in, add value, increses social relations, life satisfaction, and self esteem, and ultimately has a positive effect on womens' psychological and phsical well-being. The aim of this study, to evaluate the effects of multiple roles on psychological well-being on women at Turkey. In order to analyze those effects in detailed way, some variables such as social support, self esteem, work load, work family conflict has been added to the research model. This study had been conducted with homogenous sampling method at seven different cities where are high potetial to respresent the population of Turkey.
