Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine the competitiveness of Turkey by examining the production and foreign trade of the glass industry. With the calculations made with the data of the sub-sectors that have a significant share in the glass sector, the competitiveness of Turkey in the glass sector has been tried to be revealed. In the study, the comparative advantages of Turkey's glass sector in foreign trade were calculated with the help of the indices used to measure the competitiveness and comparative advantages of countries in international trade. In this respect, in this study, firstly the concepts of competition, competitiveness and then the indices that allow the measurement of comparative advantages will be explained. The necessary data for index calculations, which will enable us to analyze Turkey's comparative advantages in the glass industry, were obtained from the United Nations International Trade Statistics Database and the data portal of the Turkstats. In order to determine Turkey's comparative advantages in the glass industry, the SITC Rev 3-digit comparative advantage coefficients, including the data between 2005 and 2019, were calculated; Turkey's revealed comparative advantages and competitiveness disadvantages are revealed.
