Impact on human development of gender inequality in Turkey

Unlike the concept of growth, the concept of development is a concept that determines the quality of life, opportunities and rights of countries and is supported by human indicators. In the human development report developed by the United Nations and published annually since 1990, the social and economic development values of the countries, together with the human development, are determined separately for women and men. index data revealing the extent of damage suffered. This study aims to investigate the effect of gender inequality on human development in Turkey. The econometric model is used to examine the impact of gender inequality on human development. Panel cointegration and panel causality analyzes were conducted with the data collected for the group of developing BRICS-T countries. The data set used within the scope of the study was obtained from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the World Bank and covers the years between 2006-2019. According to the results of the application in the study, it was determined that positive developments in gender inequality for women positively affect human development. In addition, it was concluded that there is a cross-sectional dependency among the countries in the panel, in other words, the change in one of these countries affects the others.
