Abstract (EN)

Hindemith's sonata, who was the one of the most important composers of 20th century music, has been an remarkable work that it was given to clarinet repertoire in terms of its technical and musical features. The main theme of this research was to examine the sonata that was written by Paul Hindemith for clarinet and piano repertoire. The effects of art movement originated from the modern period on music was mentioned in the examination of the sonata. Moreover, Hindemith's life, works, musical appreciation, and contributions to Turkey's music appreciation were investigated. Another aim of this research was to examine the development of clarinet, which was a member of woodwind instrument family, in historical process together with clarinet repertoire and to contribute to other studies. In this research, various sources such as puplished articles and previous theses about Paul Hindemith's music and works were used.
