The teaching of the "İstiklâl Yolu" in the revolution history of the Turkish Republic and Kemalism corses (A design of a new unite under the lights of existing course books teacher and student views and contemporary publications)

In the study the aim is the acquisition of the case of "The Independence Path" for the welfare of history teaching by considering that including "The Independence Path" in the subjects of Social Science and the Republic of Turkey and the Kemalism being taught during the 2015-2016 Educational Term in the Secondary Schools and High Schools attached to the Ministry of National Education should consolidate the national emotions. To this end, the existing text books about the case of "The Independence Path" related to the 2015-2016 Educational Term are analysed along with the current completed contemporary publications and those in the phase of completion and those parts are sought to be determined which could be used in the teaching of "The Independence Path". Field work and interview were made in Ankara–Kalecik–Ilgaz–Kastamonu-Küre–Seydiler–İnebolu concerning the issue. In addition to the determinations made, by collecting the views of teachers and students, the use of the case of "The Independence Path" in the text books is aimed. Besides the history teaching, the issues of local history, history teaching out of the school and museum teaching are also included in the study. The text books of the Social Science and the Republic of Turkey and the Kemalism being taught during the 2015-2016 Educational Term in the Secondary Schools and High Schools attached to the Ministry of National Education are analysed and it is determined that the case of "the Independence Path" is not included in the existing text books and that there are missing points in those including the case. In the other part the case of "The Independence Path" is studied in the contemporary publications and in the light of the activity to be designed, it was sought to determine in which form these topics included in the contemporary publications could be used in the existing text books. In the aim of increasing the effect of the new Activity to be prepared, survey work was made seeking the receipt of teacher and student views. This survey work is a descriptive one applied to 240 students in the Secondary Schools and High Schools attached to the Ministry of National Education located in Çankırı, namely 4 schools including 2 State Schools and 2 Private Schools and 40 Teachers of Social Science and History recruited in the Center of Çankırı. The design of the new Activity was realised according to the results coming from the survey. The memories lived in the Independence Path was sought to be reported from the witnesses alive and for this aim field search was made in the locations included in "the Independence Path". The data obtained in the end of the field search was valorised in design of new units. The new unit prepared in the light of the existing text books applied in the 2015-2016 Educational Term along with the contemporary publications and the teacher and student views was put at the disposal of the teachers and students in the Social Science and the History of Revolution and Kemalism classes. The case was supported with analysis of the existing text books and contemporary publications besides field work and interview applications undertaken. By receiving teacher and student views on the Activity designed, the benefits it provided for the case of "The Independence Path" in the framework of the Social Science and the History of Revolution and Kemalism classes were transferred objectively. In the end of this study the case was evaluated in terms of its contribution to history teaching and suggestions were provided.
