The language policy of the Republic of Turkey

The reformation of The Turkish Language Policy is explored in this study. In this respect, language and the terms which are related to the language are explained first. Secondly, based on the Turkish History, The Turkish Language as a Language Policy is found out under this process. The Turkish Language Policy were studied under two parts as the period before the foundation of Turkish Republic and The Turkish Republic period with respect to the characteristics of the improvements. In the first part, the effects of the political decisions and their practices and some popular Turkish language processing works on the formation of the Language are stated. These effects are handled separate from the Turkish States which were found in the history. By this way, general framework is drawn. Also, the subject is reinforced with explanation of the developments in the language field since the last period of the Ottoman Empire to the first years of the Republic of Turkey. In the second part, During The Turkish Republic period, the changes on the language emerged depending on the foundation of a new state and the westernization processes are stated. Meanwhile the political preferences until today are also explained. In addition to all these, current language position and the activities of institutions that direct The Turkish Language Policy were studied in this part. Also, The Turkish Language is argued as a Science and world language and the future predictions of the language policy are discussed in consideration of the globalization process.Eventually, it is concluded that; today Turkey should follow similar Language Policy with Atatürk period which affected the today's language policy.
