Abstract (EN)

With increasing population and industrialization, increasing water need for different use purposes, is the most important issue all over the world. An understanding of the wastewater nature, is a fundamental factor in the selection of treatment techniques. United Nations World Development Report (2017), indicates that discharging of wastewater without inadequate treatment plays a critical role as high operating and maintenance costs and high energy consumption in wastewater treatment plants. The classical treatment systems used for large settlements may not be economical for small settlements due to their large size and construction costs. Toprak, (2000) indicates that the cost per capita in the population of 1000 people is 2 to 4 times higher than the cost per capita in the population of 100,000. Within the scope of this research project, it is aimed to develop an innovative reactor system for small settlements. For this purpose, wastewater passing through the filter system after SBR operation aimed suitable for domestic wastewater treatment, the different filtration times and optimization of operating conditions were examined during the study. To improve the quality of treated water, some textile materials with impregnated activated carbon into to effectiveness of activated carbon on treatment efficiency was investigated. In the project, evaluations made on the applicability of the prototype to be producing on a larger scale. Besides, for the implementation of this treatment system to be developed, a wastewater management model belonging to these settlements proposed by identifying the locations of the small settlements in Manisa, Gediz Basin.
