Agricultural and municipalities in Turkey role in livestock activities and cooperation with cooperatives: Erzurum BüyükşehirMunicipality example

The law dated 2012 and numbered 6360, which envisages significant changes in the structure of Metropolitan Municipalities, is one of the most discussed regulations, especially in the field of local governments. This law came into force in March 2014. When the changes that the Metropolitan Municipality has brought in the management system from this date to the present are examined, the positive and negative aspects are evaluated in detail within the framework of agricultural and livestock activities and the new duties and responsibilities imposed on the Metropolitan Municipalities. In this study, we have tried to examine the early effects of agricultural and animal activities within the framework of completed or sustainable projects by examining the support given to agricultural and animal producers by the Metropolitan Municipalities and their cooperation in training activities. Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality is seen as an exemplary municipality with the support it gives to agricultural and livestock activities for local development. With this study, it has been determined that agriculture and animal husbandry activities that will contribute to local development within the Law No. 6360 and in the implementation of this law are discussed and suggestions are made.
