Abstract (EN)
In this study, studying in secondary school and high school math classes to understand the problems they had with their Syrian students know the meaning of terms that have an impact in Turkey was intended to solve. In order to embody the existence of the problem, which is one of the central districts of Mersin and the Syrian population Yenişehir, Mezitli and Akdeniz middle and high schools in the districts of students who study in class with students and mathematics teachers Syrian Syrian semi-structured interview forms prepared and made interviews, needs analysis were excluded. The results obtained from the descriptive analysis of the data obtained from the interview, the students experienced problems in knowing the meaning of mathematical terms, to understand that math, therefore, it was observed that affects the ability to solve math problems. It was determined that the glossaries they used were prepared for Turkish students, therefore they were in need of a glossary of mathematical terms prepared for them, because they were not suitable and sufficient. In line with this need, 5-12. For Syrian students in the classroom, a multilingual, visual-based glossary of mathematical terms including definitions and examples was prepared in Turkish, Arabic and English. The terms contained in the glossary were obtained by scanning the secondary school and high school textbooks of the Ministry of Education (MEB). Dictionaries prepared by the Turkish language institution (TDK), Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) Dictionary of scientific terms, Educational Information Network (EBA) Interactive mathematical glossary were used in determining the terms. At the end of the scan, 443 mathematical terms were identified. Eight criteria have been created for writing glossary items. Mathematical symbols and abbreviations were added to the glossary created in accordance with these eight criteria in the final stage, and the gloassary was completed. A semi-structured interview was conducted with teachers who are field experts on whether the prepared glossary will solve the problem that Syrian secondary and high school students experience in knowing the meaning of mathematical terms and its usefulness. A descriptive analysis of the data obtained from the interviews showed that the glossary would solve the problem faced by Syrian students and was useful.
