Private dental practices in Turkey - the effects of organizational institutionalization on financial performance: A questionnaire investigation

This study investigates the effects of organizational institutionalization on financial performance in private dental practices in Turkey. Utilizing the outcomes from the investigation, one of the expected benefits of the study was to develop strategies and recommendations to faciliate organizational institutionalization in dental practices, hence contributing to the economic growth of the nation.A questionnaire was devised based on a comprehensive review of the literature and used to asses the degree of organizational institutionalization in Turkish private dental practices.There was a significant positive correlation between organizational institutionalization and the six areas of interest (human resources management, total quality management, customer relationship management, marketing management, financial management, stock management). Results indicated that the degree of organizational institutionalization in Turkish private dental practices is limited and financial difficulties are common. Dental practices with high organizational institutionalization were found to have fewer financial difficulties.There is a clear need for dental practitioners to undertake training in business management practices and increase the organizational institutionalization of their practice to minimise financial difficulties and heighten their competitive value.Key Words:Dentist, Institutionalization, Dental Practice, Management, Finance
