Analysis of Syrians in Turkey in the context of security theory

Until the end of the Cold War Period, the perception of what was under threat only as the 'state' shows that the issue of security fits into a narrow mold. Over time, the approach of Critical Theorists to the subject made it necessary to expand the definition of the concept of 'security'. Theorists, who argue that many different issues will threaten security, state that they may pose a security threat to the migration process and immigrants. For this reason, the mass migration movement experienced after the Arab People's Movement, which started in Tunisia in 2010, spread to Syria in 2011 and turned into a civil war, brought along the questions whether the Syrians coming to Turkey would pose a security problem. The concept of securitization, developed by the Copenhagen School, emphasizes that a situation can be perceived as a security problem by the public through speech and act, and the Syrians in Turkey are evaluated in the context of securitization theory. In the master's thesis study, it has been examined whether the Syrians, whose numbers are increasing day by day and who are given temporary protection status, whether they are a threat to the society in the language of political party members and the media, and how they are included in the securitization process.
