Legal status of Syrians in Turkey

The troubled process in neighbour country Syria has affected Turkey, too. The Syrians have been subjected to forced emigration because of persecution in their country. The written and visual media news and communiquê does not have a common terminology about legal status of Syrian. The purpose of the dissertation; to explain the legal status of Syrians, identify the rights and obligations which Syrians have in practice and theory. The concepts refugees and asylum seekers, have been reviewed in this study in the context of international legal protection and the application of some countries. After having described the relevant concepts, international and regional documents have been examined. Turkey's refugee policy has been analyzed under the 1951 Geneva Convention, 1967 Protocol, The Law on the Foreigners and International Protection 2013 and Regulation on Temporary Protection.
