For this reason, the global climate change problem, which is likely to be experienced after the changes in regional climate parameters, has reached dimensions that threaten the existence of humanity. In order to prevent the effects of the climate crisis as it reaches a global scale, the Kyoto protocol was signed in 1997 under the leadership of the United Nations and international organizations, and the countries that emit greenhouse gases to the atmosphere were tried to participate. With the Paris Agreement, which was signed with the participation of 189 countries, it was aimed to limit the emissions (oil, coal, natural gas, etc.) arising from the use of fossil fuels that cause greenhouse gas effects in the atmosphere. In this study; General information about fossil-based energy sources and renewable energy sources is given and their environmental effects are mentioned. The current energy resources and energy policies in Turkey are mentioned and carbon emission rates over the years are stated and greenhouse gas emissions of fossil fuel energy sources are mentioned. The development of Turkey's energy resources over the years has been summarized, the share of renewable energy resources and energy policies have been examined. The energy policies of Germany, which is one of the leading countries with energy investments in Europe and in the world, and the development of energy resources from the past years have been compared with Turkey. An awareness survey was conducted in the 1st and 4th grades of the university on the choice of energy source and its effects on climate change, and the results of the survey were interpreted.
