Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, logistics centers and junction lines that have strategic roles in the railway freight transportation sector were examined. The infrastructure, capacity and efficiency of logistics centers in Turkey are evaluated in detail with a literature review, official data analysis and feasibility reports. The findings show that logistics centers and interconnection lines in Turkey have increasing importance. These centers increase the competitiveness of rail freight transport and provide alternative options to road and maritime transport. Therefore, logistics centers play a critical role in the development of rail freight transport in Turkey. This study aims to contribute to making rail freight transport more competitive and sustainable by highlighting the current situation and potential improvements in the sector. It also aims to shed light on the future development of rail freight transport in Turkey. The research carried out in line with these objectives shows that logistics centers and branch lines in rail freight transport in Turkey have made significant developments in recent years. These developments are positive steps in terms of increasing the share of railway transport and increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of the logistics sector. However, for the sustainability of these developments, it is necessary to increase investments in railway infrastructure, further develop the logistics sector and effectively implement policies to increase the competitiveness of railway transport.
