Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was investigated whether there is a relationship between the psychological resilience levels and life satisfaction levels of highly qualified individuals who have undergone brain drain, and whether these levels differ significantly according to some demographic variables such as gender, age, education level, marital status, duration of living abroad and duration of working abroad. The sample of the research consists of 405 highly qualified individuals from Turkey living abroad. Demographic Information Form, Brief Psychological Resilience Scale, Adult Life Satisfaction Scale were used to collect the data used in the study. Non-parametric test (Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis-H test) was applied where group comparisons were made and assumptions were not met. The correlations between the variables were calculated with the Pearson correlation coefficient. SPSS 26 version program was used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the research, it has been determined that there is a significant relationship between the levels of psychological resilience and life satisfaction of individuals who have undergone a brain drain. There is a positive linear relationship between psychological resilience levels and life satisfaction levels of individuals who have undergone a brain drain. According to other results obtained in the study, the level of resilience differs significantly according to gender and life expectancy abroad, but does not differ significantly according to other demographic variables. It has been observed that the level of psychological resilience of highly qualified male individuals who have undergone brain drain is higher than that of females. Among the sub-dimensions of the Adult Life Satisfaction Scale, the general life satisfaction level is according to the duration of living abroad, the relationship satisfaction level is according to the education level; job satisfaction level according to marital status; The Adult Life Satisfaction Scale and its sub-dimension, the level of job satisfaction, differ significantly according to the duration of working abroad. It was observed that the level of adult life satisfaction did not differ significantly according to other demographic variables. Based on the assumption that individuals with high levels of resilience and life satisfaction, which are shown to be related to each other in the study, will have low rates of brain drain, suggestions have been made about what studies can be done to improve the living conditions of individuals. Thus, it is thought that the acceleration of brain drain will decrease and the brain drain can be reversed over time.
