Abstract (EN)

The transformation stages occurring in communication technologies have paved the way for the development of digital journalism by enabling traditional journalism practices to change. Digital technologies that have begun to be used in the field of journalism have brought about radical changes in the production, distribution and consumption processes of news. The wide range of diversity in the structure of digital media facilitates individuals' access to information by enabling the news flow and consumption to progress at a faster and more intense level than ever before. News content prepared in accordance with the structure of each digital medium causes frames to be formed with what they include and exclude at both the production and presentation stages, and these news frames affect individuals' interpretation of situations and events. In this context, news about Syrian asylum seekers, one of the prominent agenda topics in Turkey, and the representation and framing styles used for asylum seekers in these news are effective in shaping society's perception of asylum seekers. The study tried to reveal how Syrian asylum seekerswere framed in media organizations based on digital journalism in Turkey during the asylum seekers crisis that emerged as a result of the civil war in Syria and affected many countries in the region, especially Turkey. In this context, the first part of the study includes the introduction, the second part includes framing methods in the news, the third part includes the development of digital journalism practices, the fourth part includes the historical background of the Syrian war, and the fifth part includes the research study. The question "Do media organizations have an objective perspective and a consistent news writing language in framing Syrian refugees in the news?" forms the basis of the research. In the study, news about Syrian asylum seekers on Hürriyet and Sözcü news sites between the specified dates were discussed. The findings were examined using Robert Entman's framing analysis method. As a result, it seems that the news language used in framing Syrian refugees is shaped within the scope of the subject of the news content and the political approaches of the news sites, far from an objective approach.
