Terrorism is one of the world?s most debated and argued topics because of the momentum it gained in recent years and especially after the Twin Tower attacks which took place on 11 September 2001 in the USA.The roots of Radical Islamic movement ideology lie in the ?Islamic revivalism? of 18th and 19th centuries and this movement ?Islamic Resurgence? of the first half of the 20th century. Its principal leaders and ideologues include Abul Ala Mawdudi, Hasan Al- Banna and Sayyid Qutb. This movement aims, made main changes on politic and intellectual on Islamic world. In order to put its aim in to reality, some of concepts that are referenced by the Quran are being used. Meanwhile, the explanations of religious texts misused by ulema and religious leaders and misuse of religious for a politic aims may be influential on terrorist activities. For his reason, some of the religious texts must be reinterpreted in modern conditions because of social changes on modern world. Although there is a relationship between religions and terror, religion is not only source of terror itself. Terror is mainly motivated by political, social and economical problems of a society.The purpose of this study is to find out the reasons that feed the religiously-appeared terror and to determine how they are misused by terror organizations. While conducting this study, the publications of religious groups and jihadist ideologues?s were used widely so as to understand clearly that the militants?s way of thinking.In this study, shortly these results have been obtained: The tension and conflicts in the world should be carefully analysed, and then decent solutions should be produced. First, those groups that are reluctant to reconcile should be taken out of agenda. Secondly, those who are sincere Muslims and those who use terror as a means should be carefully distinguished.In the framework of Salafi-Wahhabi ideology, we wanted to explain the theoretical base of Al Qaeda and Hizbullah Teror Organisations which are the hard-core interpretation of Islam. In the following part Al Qaeda and Hizbullah will be analysed as a religiously appeared terrorist organisations.In the first part, terror and terrorism were defined and state terrorism, state supported terrorism and international terrorism were explained. In the next part, the terms Islam included as terrorism with religious inclination, Islamism and fundamentalism were explained, Selefi-Vahhabi ideology, adopted by the members of Al Qaeda was analyzed and the ideas of the ideologists contributed to the development of this ideology were touched on.In order to put its aim into reality, some of the concepts, that are referenced by the Quran, such as jihad , rule, caliph, hizb, property, abuse, council, obedience, Islamic law, dar el islam, dar el harb are being used.
