Religious politic structure in Turkey and European Union process

The end of the 1980's, became the start of a progression, rapid in change.In a period, with both economical and political constructions, Turkey becamethe most problematic region in the world. The new formation in Northern Irak,the Kibris issue, problems with Greece at the Agean, allegations of genociderelating to Armenia, radical Islamic terror threats directed towards the secularand democratic regime, and problems related to foriegn pressure such as thestate of minorities, etc.The dilemma of menace, linked with one end to imperialism and theother to political/social reaction.Turkey, on the one hand, while contending with internal and foreignmatters, is with the other hand, searching for a placein this new world order.In spite of Turkey's preference, from the end of the 1960's on, to be withthe west within the European Community, did not materialize owing to internalbickering, political turmoil, and the religion factor that was took intoconsideration.There is, in existence, in Turkey's foreign policy agenda, an indefiniteeffort to join the European Union in relation to the international relationsnetwork, from now on defined as globalization. Turkey is a influental country,however alone,it is not powerfull enough to respond to the effects of an international systemwhere there is a gradual rise in momentum in respect to cooperation.The EU is certainly not an ideal, utopia or an earth's heaven; yet it ishope and effort for improvement and democracy.I tried to examine these developments, within context to the relation of religionand state.I strived, not to evaluate a difficult and challenging topic, but only to learn.Key Words: 1) European Union, 2) Secularizm, 3) To Became contemporary4) Religion, 5) Political Islam
