Evaluation of the religious education given to the college students in the dormitories of the Religious Affairs Foundation of Turkey

Abstract (EN)

Apart from the Higher Education Credit and Dormitories Institution, private dormitories, foundations excluded from taxation, and dormitories belonging to associations that work for the benefit of society also provide services for the accommodation of university students in Turkey. One of the foundations that are tax-exempt and provide accommodation for higher education students is the Turkish Religious Foundation. In order to assist the scientific, intellectual, artistic, social and physical progress of students living in dormitories in different provinces under the umbrella of TDV, which has many studies in raising the young generation; conferences, charity activities, excursions and camping activities, workshops, courses, spiritual programs and sports-related activities are held. In this context, the aim of the research is; It is the examination and evaluation of non-formal religious education activities carried out in higher education dormitories affiliated to the Turkish Religious Foundation. In this process, firstly, the literature review method was used during the creation of the theoretical framework of the research. Subsequently, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 25 female students living in the dormitory regarding the subject and the obtained data were analyzed by content analysis method. As a result of the research; It was concluded that the general sample group was satisfied with the physical conditions of the dormitory, the non-formal religious education activities offered to them in the dormitory contributed to their cognitive development, they experienced motivation and spiritual satisfaction, and they tended to apply what they learned to life. In addition, the majority of these students stated that while they were satisfied with the qualitative aspects such as the content and frequency of the activities in question, they contributed to their lives in a concrete and abstract sense. As a result of the data obtained, it has been seen that the young people concerned have developed themselves individually and socially thanks to these activities, but some of them complained of experiencing intense intensity. Finally, it was determined that the sample group wanted to actively participate in the religious education activities in question, but did not want to be only passive listeners.
