Abstract (EN)

Energy is one of the basic needs of humanity, and with the increase in the world population, there is a constant increase in energy demand. In this thesis, different energy production methods such as thermal power plants, nuclear power plants and solar panels will be discussed. While thermal power plants produce energy by burning fossil fuels, nuclear power plants obtain energy from the breakdown of radioactive materials such as uranium. Solar panels are a renewable energy source and convert sunlight directly into electrical energy. The number of thermal power plants in Turkey is quite high and these plants produce a significant amount of energy annually. However, it causes air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions due to the use of fossil fuels. In terms of nuclear power plants, Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant is being built and will be Turkey's first nuclear power plant when completed. Solar panels are becoming increasingly widespread in Turkey and play an important role in renewable energy production. Thermal and nuclear power plants are widely used around the world, but are criticized for their environmental effects. On the other hand, solar panels stand out as a renewable and clean energy source. Accidents occurring in energy production facilities can lead to loss of life and property, as well as serious damage to the environment. While it causes problems such as thermal and nuclear power plant accidents, air and soil pollution, and radiation leakage, the environmental effects of solar panels are more limited. In this thesis, different energy production methods that can be used to meet the increasing energy demand will be discussed. The unique advantages and disadvantages of each method will be included.
