186 SUMMARY ECONOMICS PRESS IN TURKEY, ECONOMY-PRESS POWER RELATIONSHIP The development of economics press in Turkey can be traced to earlier stages of the history of our Press. Economy related issues have appeared in various papers and journals within historical process beginning with Takvim-i Vekayi. Especially attachment more importance to economics and the economic growth that has been experienced after implementation of the 24th January 1980 decisions influenced the press as well and caused to increase of economic news and information concentrated papers and journals on one hand, and daily papers began to allocate special pages for economic news, on the other hand. This study focuses on concept and scope of economics press considered within historical development framework, and the economics press is examined thoroughly. The place of economics in the modern understanding of government nowadays has gone to the fore of the politics. The politics implemented nowadays is concentrated on economy and administration of economy. The economic policies launched by political governments succeed if accepted and followed by the society. Acceptance of economic policies by the society is possible if correctly and rapidly made clear to the public. The economics press assume important duties with this regard. This study finds and expresses that the press that gives such weight to economy has a greater influence on politics, economy as well as economic policies and implementations.
